The Hyundai Motor Manufacturing plant in Alabama makes the Santa Cruz truck, Tucson SUV, Santa Fe SUV, and Elantra sedan. The plant employs around 4,200 people in Montgomery, AL, supporting about 14,436 direct and indirect jobs in the state. The Alabama plant is Hyundai's first US-based automotive manufacturing plant.
Now Open: Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant in Georgia
Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant in Georgia recently opened, boasting a $12.6 billion investment and the largest single economic investment in the state's history. The Hyundai Metaplant will produce around 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles each year, including the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9. Manufacturing of other hybrids and plug-in hybrids from brands like Kia and Genesis will also be supported. The plant is expected to create nearly 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in Georgia.
Coming Soon: Hyundai's New Automotive Steel-Making Facility in Louisiana
Hyundai Motor Group recently announced their decision to invest nearly $6 billion to build an automotive steel manufacturing facility in Louisiana. The site is a 17,000-acre area known as the RiverPlex MegaPark in the Ascension Parish. Most of the automotive steel manufactured in this plant will go to Hyundai Motor Company's vehicle plants in the US, and the rest will go to other automotive manufacturers, including Kia and US automakers. The plant is expected schedule to start construction in 2026 and open for manufacturing around 2029.
